Humble Beginnings



My love for photography started at a very young age. I was always known to have a camera with me (disposable, Polaroids, etc)! I was even in the yearbook club in middle school and the historian in my dance team in high school.

In 2009, I started taking my photography to a different level, and began offering sessions of all types every now and then under the Jennifer Kristin Photography name. Once I had my oldest son in 2012 I started to really find what type of photography style I was truly wanting to do! Being a mother truly opened my eyes to how fast time flies and that your babies are only little for a short time.

In 2012/13, I began focusing more on where my heart was leading.. photographing children. (I suppose it was the new mother in me!) I began photographing in my home, in my living room using my windows as my lighting!

Later I moved to a room in the back of my home, and made that my own little home studio space after investing in studio lighting. I worked in my home from 2012 to December 2018. In January of 2019 I moved to a commercial location! In April of 2019 I ended up sharing the same suite with my husband's gym for 9 months. It sounds weird, but somehow we made it work, and everyone was so supportive! In late January 2020, I moved to the suite next door to my first location! I am now in suite A and my husband's jiu jitsu gym is in suite B! It is the best feeling ever to be able to do this side by side with him. My studio is constantly a work in progress, but I am still in awe that I finally have a space of my own!

I am so blessed to still be working in the town that I live in, close to home, and next door to my husband! It is everything I have prayed for and more (LITERALLY!) And this is just the beginning!

January 2019 - My FIRST commercial space!

April 2019 - My husband and I shared the same space! We had a border on wheels dividing us. When it was my studio time I'd move the border out like this. When it was his gym time I'd roll the border closer and close off my area. WILD, I know! But we made it work from April 2019 to January 2020.

February 2020 - My SECOND commercial space for 4 years.

By the time I was able to get situated in February, the pandemic happened and had to close in March. I patiently waited to reopen again.

I had 4 wonderful years here, being my husband's business neighbor. As of June 2024, my husband's/our business knocked down the wall, expanded, and took over this space.
